directions for best results

  • don’t be a donkey about information you don’t like or find inconvenient, focus on what you can do and don’t obsess about what you can’t. yeah there are other legitimate sources for information and guidance, but this is a brand new virus and we’re in uncharted waters. do not ignore or conflate the directives coming from the experts who have been on the front lines from day one. listen to them.
  • s l e e e e e p – get those 8 hours you never get. take naps. take breaks from the updates on Covid 19 – if you haven’t figured out by now, the 24 hour news cycle repeats itself for a majority of those hours, you will not miss out unless you go completely off grid.
  • do hydrate in between the day drinks and cyber cocktails with friends. water is that forever friend we all think about daily but don’t always make contact with and feel bad about it later. a bit like the hand washing business. this should not have to be repeated as much as it is. smh
  • eat the rainbow! this is the simplest and most effective way to eat healthy; look for food that is fresh, unprocessed and a color of the rainbow (naturally). even if you only find red, orange, yellow, and green things you are ahead of the curve in feeding your body well. if you’re stymied by how to eat a rainbow Google a recipe. learn how to cook the ingredients you have on hand. also, if you’re a healthy person this is an awesome time to do a cleanse or fast.
  • do stuff with your body; if you are quarantined with a partner your options are doubled. if it’s safe to get outside and get on a bike or go for a run or a walk, do it! stretch yourself, literally, there’s a web full of yoga and pilates. or you can still your body and mind and work on your meditation game.
  • feed your brain. read a book; if you are like most of my friends you have a stack of unread books, i for one will feel like an ass for not making a dent in it when this is all done ( this might be more a post-it note for myself); never seen an opera? go here; want to explore The Metropolitan Museum of NYC? go here; learn something new like a language or how to play an instrument; watch a documentary and discover a subject or community foreign to you.
  • cultivate your community, real and virtual. have long talks with old friends. FaceTime and WhatsApp are friends of friends. reconnect with long lost peeps. add laughter to taste. reach out to neighbors and extend a non-contact hand to the infirm or elderly. fold in all ingredients for optimum results.
