A Moment of Joy

I booked a gig.
Big yay.
Biggest yay though? Getting back a negative Covid test.
I am cleared to step onto set.
The 36 hour wait was interminable, and a great privilege.
There’s so much to unpack about the experience but I’ll have to come back to that.
For now, I just want to make a cocoon out of this good news. The dual layers of it. I want to burrow into imagination and wonder. I want to savor the joy of starting a new project.

This picture is from the time before, when gathering with friends indoors and hugging spontaneously was a thing people did. And singing. I was probably doing it badly, arm extended out of frame holding an ‘air mic’ for the long note I wasn’t actually holding. But I was committed to the moment. And it was pure joy.

I’m going to snuggle with joy tonight. Moments of joy are fleeting and not to be rushed. Tomorrow will be its own moment.
