Black on Black hoodie by Yaudi (IG@original_yaudie)

I dare you. Since this is a follow up to last week, maybe it’s I double dare you. Imagine if this season, every purchase brought a little profit to a black or woman owned business. What would be the effect of mass numbers of folx patronizing local businesses and picking up their orders curbside? What if we made ethical shopping a mandate for the season? It doesn’t mean everyone is getting hemp socks. There is so much good stuff out there. I get we all have our online struggles. Some folx just straight up hate shopping, in any form. I am working on a more comprehensive list to share, please help me grow it with any suggestions you may have. For now, some more of my faves:

Worldsalon isToronto’s first and oldest green salon with a line of hair care products created by my brother from another mother Brian Phillips. He’s my personal hair-o, he has the superpowers to subdue my tresses.

The site is called iloveisola, a suggestion from a friendscriber and I couldn’t be more thrilled to discover this line of malas and healing gems, I am in LOVE.

More local love goes to Toronto based Yaudi (see photo). Branded with the national bird of Jamaica, a one of a kind hummingbird and made with top quality materials a gift from Yaudie will make you and the recipient look good.

Because books are always a great gift, because folx forget that Amazon started as a book provider, because the independent bookstores that have managed to persevere deserve mad love; gift books! But by local.

Mahogany Books Flying Books (Toronto) Eso Won (LA) Three Lives & Company (NYC) The Lit. Bar (Bronx NY)
