No Wednesday post!  Again?!

The middle of this week was stuffed to capacity, an overflowing of sloppy joe guts in this week’s life sandwich.  And the recipe didn’t allow for sides like blogging.  It was an interesting day with the voices.  They were a chorus of ‘shoulds’.

The sane option was to mute them and commit to being in the now of the middle.  The commentary could wait.

Portrait of Sarah Bernhardt as Hamlet.

It was a great middle; an actor dream day, with back to back to back auditions and then a theatre date with the fairy odd-mother -slash-mentor.  Fun!  I created relationships with fellow thesps I had known but five minutes, reminiscing and sharing dreams for the future and bringing tears to eyes on and off camera, a quick change on the fly and I was projecting my best smilingly capable business woman.  I switched hats in the sound booth and shared the moment of winning the lottery with just my voice.  I travelled from casting to casting eating from packed snacks, no time to stop.  I’d finally sit and have a meal and a martini post theatre.   I was kidnapped and captivated by the f.o.m/m, recognizing that in this moment, the human relationship trumped time in front of the keyboard.

And then the clock struck twelve.

It didn’t feel good to miss a blog post, but to be present with what was happening felt great .The number one rule in acting is be present in the moment.  It’s also the key element in conscious living.  Be in it.  Do it, it feels really good.

You cannot be present and comment on the present at the same time, but comments on the blog are always welcome.

I liked how you compared the number rule of acting as “being in the present moment” to life in general. I just wrote an article about being in the present moment called “Moving from Zombieland to Presentville” at : http://lifewithinstructions.wordpress.com.

just *k, I love what you said about the “fastest growing community in the world.” Your comment reminds me of one of those posters from the ’50s that shot up after WWII of an idealized planned community.
