Francine’s problem was indecisiveness.  And a touch of ADHD.  Pablo had accused her of being incapable of commitment, which was cruel.  Francine was plenty capable of commitment, thank you very much, she just committed too much, constantly.  She was fully committed, her commitments were simply short-lived.

When Francine was growing up in Colon, she never imagined a girl could make a living as a professional dancer.  Her life would have been different if she’d known that.  At least she had the dancing club.  Salsa on Monday and Friday, tango on Tuesday and Saturday, zumba on Wednesday and disco on Thursday.  She didn’t have a favorite dance, she loved them all.   Six nights a week she’d pack a sandwich and her shoes and dance all night. She danced with anyone who asked and she was a very good dancer so lots of men asked.  Every partner was a different story, creating a different dance and inventing new moments in the dance.  Pablo didn’t understand why she needed the club if she had him.
