Troy always picked the place.  Even if he was joining after the meal, Troy always picked the place when they came to visit.  Joanna had tried to convince her parents to let her choose but no, Troy was the expert.  He’d lived in the city for five years and as her mother told every single person she knew or met, he’s a professional traveler.  He was a freaking flight attendant and anyone with wi-fi could find great places to eat in New York City!

“I love that we get to sample his adventures but with a knife and fork, and without the parasites and whatnot.  You should be grateful your big brother is paving such an exotic path for you.”

Yeah so adventurous, except her mother ate half a pack of Tums before and after the meals with Troy. Dad only ever ordered chicken and never ate whatever else it came with.  Nobody ever mentioned that they kept a cooler of ginger ale and soda crackers in the hotel room.
