inspired by conversation snippet and couple feeding each other

“Do you want a bite of this? You should taste it, it’s still warm. Omygod. So good”
She’s extending the chocolate chunk cookie to him, so close to his mouth he could stick out his tongue and lick it. So he does. Candyce grimaces smally. Her eyes cloud over just a little and a tight smile remains.
“Good huh?” She puts the cookie back on the plate and reaches for her tea. He reaches over, picks up the cookie and takes two large consecutive Pacman bites and grunts an agreement. Crumbs cling to the corner of his mouth just over the micro-cluster of whiteheads. Candyce wonders if he’s going to finish the cookie because she would have taken another bite.
“Why do you order tea at a coffee place? I hate when people do that. Now I have to wait for you to finish.” Some crumbs drop to the table, he’s still holding the cookie.
Candyce reminds him he picked the spot and he knows that she can’t have espresso after three o’clock.
He makes that small sound at the back of his throat and shrugs. As he tosses back the last bite of cookie, Candyce watches him and the room peripherally. It’s a perfect venue for a breakup. She sips and begins to write the words in her head.
