Killing Floor by Lee Child

The awkward moment came just as I knew it would, but I still wasn’t prepared.  I’d been waiting a week for Monday to come.  Clean slate, fresh start Monday.  But this is not going according to the plan.  Frack!

It was a very simple plan, intercept Mr. Gun in the executive staff kitchen with my dazzling pitch.  Being Mr. Ellry’s assistant, I had access.  And I had a perfect product, my dating App, ”It’s Just Coffee”.  All I had to do was reenact the spill the coffee meet cute moment in every Rom-com released since birth.  My skirt was turned backwards from the failed trial run with Tina.  Tina always said I was too superstitious.  But this was my big shot, this was going to be for coffee what Instagram was for photos.  I just wasn’t prepared for Mr. Gun to start leaning in so close, so very uncomfortably close.
