His cheeks were red and chapped from too much sun. The satin red shirt was an unfortunate wardrobe choice. But Saturdays were for romance and romance was best performed in red. Anders’ grandfather had been a great heartthrob back in the small mountain town of the old country and Anders quoted him often in affairs of the heart.
The history of his war ravaged homeland fascinated Julia. She had done two six month stints as an English teacher in Sarajevo. Anders’ old world charm mesmerized Julia back in that tiny mountain town she had never heard of until her colleague introduced her to it. The charm didn’t translate here in Markham. Anders just seemed old. Julia told him she thought his bordeaux red clashed with her tomato wrap dress. She knew he loved her in the wrap dress and hoped the love was enough to inspire him to change the shirt of his own accord.
