Daring Greatly by Brene Brown

Bribery.  I’m not proud of it.

He’s playing with the orange pencil covered in brown basketballs.  He’s not doing tricks or anything, just twirling it and staring at it as it moves between his six-i’m-going-to-be-seven-next-week fingers.  Five sentences.  He’s written three.  This has taken half and hour.  He rattled off six sentences when we sat down to do the homework, but the ruled paper stupefies.  He resists order at every turn.

“Come on buddy, one sentence with pile and one more with pie,” I give him my biggest sly smile.  ” And then you get some pie!”

Pie before bed is not the worst thing in the world.  The worst thing is if he has to go back on the drugs.
