What procrastination looks like today.

I walked the dog, because it was a good thing to do.  And a selfless act too because the snowstorm had just started.  Well, mostly selfless since I did have to pick up a book at the library.  But I didn’t have to loop up and around the long way to get there, with snow blowing into my face, and dispose of two bags of poop en route.

Selfless selfless selfless.

Why does it sound so close to selfish?  No this was definitely a good deed, one of the poops was semi-soft and came out in installments.  Which is why I was so deserving of some fresh brewed coffee when I returned home.  A snack made sense since I was already in the kitchen.  Wait a minute do you really need two slices of toast?  No.  OK, off to work we go… it’s a work from home day so… you know what, I’ll have that second piece now so I don’t have to break for lunch.  I’ll just work straight through, take a late lunch.

and then and then and then…

I’m in the thick of the day when i realize, it’s Wednesday!  The middle has arrived!  I don’t want to spend the week waiting for the weekend but the weekdays are often dedicated to the agenda of someone or something else.  But what if hump day is more than just the mid-point?  What if it’s got its own agenda?  And so it does.  Since starting The Middle Notes I made a vow to do something for myself on Wednesdays.  If life is a pie, Wednesday is when I have my slice.  It doesn’t have to be a big deal, sometimes it’s a night out but sometimes it’s a date with a good book.  It doesn’t matter what it is as long as I make the middle count.  We might not always be able to make every moment count but we can choose the moments that count.
