Miss hired me as a nanny but I rarely held the baby. My friend SooLin told me that lots of ladies she had met just wanted company. But Miss never talked to me except to give me instructions. Or more often than not, corrections. And she didn’t talk to me the way she talked to her friends, she shouted at me in broken English. I told her at the interview I had completed my O levels, but she was very forgetful about things in that last trimester. I thought things would improve after she had the baby but mostly she just wanted me to make notes or hold things, things other than the baby.
