Why didn’t she remember that she hated musicals? Well technically Pip didn’t hate musicals anymore, and there was so much hype around the film. Dom like everyone else wanted to check out the pomp and pageantry, but this was that one. The one their mother had dragged her and Cecil to, just before she became totally unhinged.
Cecil said it was all the “sinacting” that drove her mad. The didnt’ just sing songs in Les Mis, they sang all the words. It felt like church. It wasn’t weird when their mother first started doing it. It was funny when she sang out the breakfast choices like a zany waitress. But then she started singing out reminders to do chores and answering telemarketers in song. The telemarketers stopped calling and she declared victory but father declared her unstable.
Pip shifted in her popcorn littered seat and looked over at Dom. He was completely immersed in the lush visuals. It was gorgeous. Still, Pip wished the movie version had an intermission, she would go for air and never come back. Just like her mother.
